2009 May Be Prime

Well everyone it is now 2009 and I don't know about you but I don't feel any different. Well, actually I feel more lazy...I haven't done anything for like a week for the most part & it feels pretty good but I also know that it has to end sometime so my plan for today is to go home & clean my apartment. I think it is important to start the new year off in a clean & organized environment, I think it clears the head and preps it for what is to come, which hopefully is all good things!! With the economy in the shitter & a new President on the horizon I am so excited to see what this year will bring not only to me & my friends & loved ones but to the world as a whole. I am a bit skeptical of what is looming this year only because it's an odd numbered year & according to Wendy's mom that is never a good thing! I will stay hopeful though & push forward like everyone else and hopefully earn everything I deserve for myself this year by putting out good karma & hopefully getting it in return.

Last night was a great start to the new year with my closest friends and a great meal and a great band and great drinks...I couldn't ask for anything more, and I hope Megan had as much fun as the rest of us as it's her birthday today & the party was just as much for her as the rest of us.

So clean your houses, grab your sage sticks & smoke out every corner of the place to remove all the bad joo joo 2008 left behind & stay hopeful for the future. That being said I think it's time to hit up IHOP, I'm so happy they are open on the holiday it will sure get my year off to a great start. Tomorrow, on the other hand my friends...the gym, along with every other person who will give their all for about 2 weeks then slowly start dropping like flies. I'm actually pretty committed though, because really, I don't have anything else to do!!

I saw this online today & thought it was fitting, it's a whole year in about 40 seconds & I think the best part about it is the sounds & man, I can't wait for spring!!

Stuff In General

Hey everyone, so I'm back in the swing of things and working thank God, I was seriously going crazy just laying around the house for 3 days. I tried to do some cleaning but was too wore out or my fever would get in the way, I managed to run the dishwasher & do 1 load of laundry, oh and I unpacked from Toronto...thrilling, I know. I spent 2.5 days in the same clothes, gross I know but why dirty more stuff, I wasn't leaving the house! I opened up the window and laid on the couch with the breeze washing over me all day & that felt really nice, it smelled like spring, not fall. Knowing that fall was here though made me kind of sad, while I am a fall person knowing that winter comes next makes me sick to my stomach. As I age I find I have a much lower tolerance for all things winter from cold to icy roads & crazy snow storms but I guess I'll have to deal with it until I get a transfer to somewhere warm.

So tomorrow is my friend Wendy's birthday, she's turning the Dirty 30! We are all heading down to Garden Bowl for some bowling, beers, pizza, and fun & I'm so looking forward to some interaction with people after being under lock and key all week.

Next week & the whole month of October is going to be rough on me! Wed-Saturday next week I'll be dog sitting for my friends Todd & Melissa in Dearborn which won't be a problem but it will be annoying having to sleep with 2 dogs when I normally sleep alone. My friend Doug is going out of town for practically the whole month so I will be staying every single weekend in Dearborn at his house which means that my apartment is going to be a filthy mess! See, this is the problem with having pets...you make plans & then oops, someone has to watch your animals and guess what folks, even though you are paying someone it is a pain in the ass and it does put them out. The fact that I have to pack up work clothes, regular clothes, and all my day to day necessities & live out of a suitcase the entire month of October...it's an inconvenience regardless of how much cash I'm being given. My whole point is, why do I pay rent? I'm never home and here I thought by moving 20 minutes away people would stop depending on me but silly me it just makes things more difficult on me. The worst part is, I love these dogs so I can't just say "screw em" and that sucks!

The Hunt For the Perfect Stall

Ladies, I was at the movies a few weeks back & after the flick I had to pee so I strolled into the bathroom and began “the hunt”. It suddenly occurred to me as I was walking down the aisle opening every available stall door and peeking in, that us ladies are like dogs sniffing out the right area of grass to kill. I of course wasn’t the only woman doing this; there were 2 other women who were also narrowing down where they wanted to relieve themselves. The first woman looked inside about 8 stalls before she found a suitable one while the woman behind her only looked in about 4, which tells me that these 2 women obviously have different standards for choosing the right toilet. Woman 2 picked a stall that woman 1 had passed up for whatever reason but I’m guessing that it wasn’t lack of toilet paper. Now, I went in the 2nd stall which had been passed up by both women & I’m not sure why. There was plenty of toilet paper, no pee or anything else on the seat, nothing on the floor, and had a full stock of seat covers. Obviously these are my criteria in finding a good public toilet, and I prefer not to be in a stall next to someone if possible. Normally I won’t go into the first stall…not sure why, I just don’t and when I’m in a bathroom that is small & only has 2 stalls I go for the handicapped one if it’s open. Obviously sometimes you just don’t have time to hunt for “the one” because you are about to pee yourself but when you do have the time…what are your criteria?

My Weekend

So my weekend turned out pretty good. I had dinner with Wendy & Paul at Page's and the fillet tip caesar sandwich was killer. On Saturday I ended up making my way to Dearborn & hitting up the Biergarten with Karen for her 32nd b-day. Bernie & his niece Megan were there as well, the bar was pretty busy, got really busy around one & there were a lot of asshole guys up in there. There were probably always asshole guys up in there but because I was sober I really noticed it this time. It was karaoke night & some people were great & others sounded like dying animals, but I made it through the night & had a lot of fun, it was totally worth the drive. I got home around 4:30 after hanging out at Bernie's for a bit & went to bed & then spent Sunday lying around & watching 90210. Karen got pretty wasted so I'm guessing she wasn't feeling too well yesterday, boo :(

Yay for my gays!!

How exciting that the California Supreme Court ruled in favor of gay marriage today. I know all kinds of people all over the place are outraged (stupid) but myself & many many others certainly support this ruling & I can only hope that the rest of the country follows suit as well. This has been such a long time coming & I know my grandpa is probably rolling over in his grave hearing about this, but I am so thrilled that finally some people out there who actually want to say "I do" will now have the chance. Now, this just leads me to ask...are Brad & Angelina going to follow through on their promise? They did say that they wouldn't get married until gay marriage was made legal, I'm sure they will now stipulate that the whole country has to allow it before they say "I do", I guess we'll see what happens after they return to the country with their new offspring!!

If you want more info on the happenings regarding the ruling today see the link below!!
