I'm so effing sick of road construction!

What the eff is going on? All these "putting Michigan to work" signs all over the place & orange barrels right underneath them yet guess what? Nobody is effing working! I was 15 minutes late today because the road crew had ten mile tore to shit complete with large pot holes which I'm sure fucked up my car in some way as I had to go through about 20 of them. It's pouring rain outside and these jackasses are moving around barrels & fucking up everyone's morning commute...even the school bus who pulled a u-turn in an attempt to find an alternate route. The street outside my apartment is also all tore to shit & nobody is working on that either but they were putting up some new barrels this morning! This has been going on since August on both streets & I'm sorry but here's my thought...fucking finish it & be done!! All they are doing is repaving the road & if they can tear out, replace the sewers & repave Garrison in 3 weeks I don't see why this shit should be any different...oh that's right, I live in Oakland County now & they are very lax about all road maintenance. During all the snow last year I would notice that even 3 days after the snow fell they still hadn't salted or plowed 10 mile. I wonder if the lag in getting the work done is that the people that are doing it are corporate people who lost their job & settled for this one. They have no clue what the hell they are doing so they just stand around & wait for instructions, given the "putting Michigan to work" theory that would kind of make sense. Honestly I don't give a shit who is doing the work I would just like it finished right away, like seriously, I would appreciate both roads being done by October 15th, thanks!!

Earlier Every Year!

Ok people, I stopped by Big Lots after work yesterday to grab something for work & when I walked in the door I was greeted by xmas trees, ornaments, dishes, welcome mats...all things X-mas & I'm fucking sorry but god damn...the X-mas season lasts long enough, why start it before Halloween is even here? I started looking around for some Halloween/fall/Thanksgiving home stuff & there was one tiny section, already marked down...WTF? We are only 4 weeks into fall & already the season is marked down? Not that I'm complaining about the fact that the door mat I plan on purchasing was marked down from 7 to 4 dollars but dude, why do we need to shop for fall in summer and winter in fall etc, the seasons are already short enough & these stores don't help any pushing holidays on us that are months away!! We keep wondering why time flies so fast...it's because of this shit & it just keeps getting worse, when I was a kid I know that X-mas crap didn't come out until after Halloween because mom & I would always go to Arbor Drugs & get those yummy X-mas cookies the week after Halloween!!

So Called Friends...

So my coworker has this “friend” who is in a word delusional. We will call this person Lucy just for stories sake & if Lucy ever by chance reads my blog she can’t complain because I didn’t use her actual name. So my coworker we’ll call her Jenny for same reasons comes in today & tells me this crazy story. Jenny & Lucy have been friends since 1st grade so they have one of those relationships where you really know the person & all of their flaws that come along with them. Well Jenny is a single mom and lives alone and her friend Lucy is single as well with a jacked up living situation but the difference between the 2 of them is that Jenny works and Lucy does not. Lucy was fired from her job at a local grocery store about 8 or 9 months ago & has since been living off of unemployment, not really sure how since it’s only supposed to run for like 3 months but regardless that is her income. Obviously Lucy has it rough with a limited income, sky high gas prices, she smokes & refuses to give it up even though it would save her over a hundred bucks a month, and she has a minor drug problem as well which probably runs a couple hundred a month too. So anyway, Jenny gets a call a couple weeks ago and Lucy tells her that her cousin is throwing her out and like I said they have known each other forever so Jenny knew damn well that Lucy was hoping for a handout & Jenny doesn’t have anything to give. Jenny told Lucy that she was sorry about her dilemma but she couldn’t help & suggested that Lucy get a job. Lucy took this to offense, why I have no idea because it seems pretty logical to me that when you have no money you get a job, right? Wrong apparently because Jenny told me all about Lucy & her past. She mooched off of everyone she knew from friends to family. She lived with her uncle for 4 years and never paid him any rent and one day she came home to find all of her stuff on the lawn & the locks changed so she moved on. After that she moved in with her mom & lived there for 7 months only paying rent the first 6 months & then she lost her job & stopped paying rent again & then mom threw her out too. After that she moved to Florida to live with her cousin and when she got there her cousin told her that he would put her up for 3 months & then she had to start paying rent. Lucy took major offense to this so her cousin said he would give her a job at his restaurant washing dishes in exchange for rent. Lucy agreed to this and after 3 days was furious because she wasn’t being paid even though her cousin told her that the job was exchange for rent. She wanted (get this) $300 a week on top of free rent because “I’ll be damned if I’m going to wash dishes and not get paid, I don’t even wash them at home”, this is what she told Jenny. The worst part is, she was still collecting unemployment & wanted the $300 on top of free rent & when her cousin told her no she went insane & called Jenny to bitch about how unfair this is. Jenny is sitting there with her 5-year-old daughter barely making ends meet but is at least working & Lucy has the balls to ask her for help. Jenny went crazy on her & told her everything she has ever wanted to say and it basically went like this: “you know what Lucy, you walk around acting like the world owes you something you bitch all the time about how everything is unfair, you don’t ever apply yourself to actually gain any respect from anyone so where do you get off thinking that you deserve more than those of us who work and earn respect from the world instead of waiting around for some big break that is never going to come?” “And another thing, please don’t call me again until you have decided to take up residence in the real world, good luck”!!
I totally support Jenny, Lucy sounds like a real piece of work & I would have done the same thing, Jenny has not spoken to Lucy since & she deleted her from her phone, I’m so proud of her!!! I would like to tell Lucy to wake the eff up, we all work to earn money & as much as we would love to meet some rich man who will just shower us in cash we know that we still have bills to pay in the mean time so get a damn job, stop draining the economy & stop feeling so sorry for yourself, you put yourself in this position & it's high time (at the age of 30) you figure your way out of it.

Bitch, Bitch, Bitch

Ok I have to bitch about a couple things right now.

I don’t know if you deal with this or not but how annoying is it listening to people talk low or whisper at work? I sit in my cube and all I can hear is psss pss pss pssss pss pss buzz a buzz pss psss psss and it’s annoying. If you don’t want people to hear you then email or write it down because it drives others crazy to hear you just so you know.

I would like to bitch about my “friends” who seem to forget to tell me things. I shouldn’t have to call upon other friends to find what is going on with you. When I talk to friend A & they tell me that friend B has her asshole boyfriend living with her & then I talk to friend B and she says nothing about it that’s a problem. When I talk to friend C and they tell me that friend A moved, yet I talk to friend A and they don’t mention it, that’s a problem. When I talk to friend D and they tell me that friend F is getting married and I talk to friend F and it isn’t mentioned that’s the beginning of a battle. Let me tell you a story about friend F, we’ll call him George. George and myself have been friends for about 10 years I’d say or at least damn close to that. We have been very close over the years and been through a lot of ups and downs together. He had some major relationship issues with another mutual friend (friend B actually) and all hell broke loose and I was the one he came to, I was there to help him pick up his pieces via email, face time, phone calls…the whole 9. So after he recovered from this trauma he met someone else and they started dating & at first she was really nice, totally cool and then one day I get a voicemail that uses up my entire message box and it is a message of girlfriend (we’ll call her Cybil) going off on George asking where he was & why he didn’t answer his phone & who was he with. This was pretty early on in the relationship so I kind of assumed he’d be walking away after that but nope he just apologized for the message & that was that. George is not the type of man I would want for a husband, he likes to wander/stray at times or at least he did in the past and I’m a firm believer that people don’t change.

So anyway, George & I remained good friends for years although he lived out of the country for a bit for work & traveled a lot with Cybil who by the way moved in to his house while he was out of the country forcing his roommate at the time out of the house (what a bitch). Years go by of hanging out here & there when time permitted but Cybil was never in attendance. Actually I had not seen Cybil since 1/1/05 & on a fluke we were all out for dinner one night about a year ago & ran into George & Cybil & she said nothing to anyone & she actually hid behind George while he talked to all of us. Strange? Yes! So a few months back I hear from a friend that he heard from another friend that George was getting married so I called him out on it & he said yes he was. A couple weeks ago I get a text from another friend asking if I got my invite, which I had not. Over the last couple weeks this has been a big dramatic event waiting for the invite, which I finally received yesterday…via email, very simple “BTW- did you want to come to my wedding?” no joke, that was the format! Now there was far more drama involved over the last couple weeks than I just told you but George sent me the link for their wedding site & I read their story & it says that they got engaged in September 2007…are you effing joking?!?! Some “friend”, he was engaged for a year & every time I said “what’s new, how’s Cybil” he always said, oh not much & she’s well, can’t really complain. I also find it odd that he made sure he told me that his grandma was getting married, but not himself, who does that?! So, the wedding is in like 3 weeks…do I wear white or red? I am definitely going just so I can find out what all the secrecy was for & due to such short notice I’m not going to be able to give them a gift. Awww, bummer!

On a totally unrelated note, Kate Hudson please cut your sons hair or at least brush it, thanks!!

FCC or MAGIC?

I don’t understand what is up with the radio, I don’t know about you guys but I listen to various stations throughout most days. My main 2 stations are 89X (best morning show) and 95.5 with 96.3 as the 3rd runner up but at work my little radio doesn’t get many stations in so I listen to 93.1 or 105.1…they both play a decent mix of a lot of different crowd pleasing music which is better in the office so I don’t offend anyone. Now, when I’ve just had it with blah music I plug in my ipod or hit up Pandora radio & listen to stuff that is a little less appropriate for work. So anyway, there is a point here…I’m sitting at my desk listening to 105.1 and “If It Makes You Happy” by Sheryl Crow comes on and I’m singing along and when I get to “why the hell does it make you so sad” the phrase is over in the song & I’m still singing it. It had been a while since I had heard it so I thought maybe I was in the wrong spot so the part comes back around again and I don’t sing but instead realize that the words “the hell” have been removed it now just says “why does it make you so sad”. It makes me sad because part of the lyrics have been removed, not silenced or bleeped but removed altogether. This is reminiscent of “You Don’t Know How it Feels” by Tom Petty on 93.1, instead of saying “Let’s roll another joint” it actually says “Let me get to the point, let’s roll another road” and that doesn’t even rhyme! On 105.1 & 93.1 Kid Rock’s “All Summer Long” they run the lyrics as “We were trying different things & trying funny things” instead of “smoking funny things”. Similar, in Paul Simon’s “Late in the Evening” he says “I stepped outside to smoke myself a J” which is not omitted on any radio station & isn’t that kind of hypocritical? Also, in a Fall Out Boy & a Panic at the Disco song the word Goddamn is used repeatedly & generally just silenced & I guess I understand that one but what I don’t understand is this.96.3 & 95.5 don’t omit the Kid Rock lyric of smoking funny things nor do they omit the lyric by Sheryl Crow or Tom Petty. 89X doesn’t omit any of them…not even the Goddamn’s which is so refreshing because one of the songs says Goddamn in it about 20 times & listening to it on 96.3 sucks because the song is mostly silent, it’s kind of like watching 8 Mile on VH1! Now, I assume that 89X has different rules because they are technically Canadian right? So, why is it that 96.3 can play “smoking funny things” and “why the hell” but 105.1 & 93.1 can’t? Do you think it’s more of a “we choose not to play those lyrics” as opposed to them not being allowed to play them? And if that’s the case then why isn’t Paul Simon edited? It can’t be because he’s a “classic” because Tom Petty is as well so why does he have to be edited? I guess I just get very frustrated when I’m at work, in my car, at home…wherever & I’m trying to sing along to some song and the whole thing is edited. How does anyone ever know what a song actually says these days? Regardless of why they can, I want to thank 89X for playing actual music in its actual state & only bleeping out the bigguns like F$#%, Sh*#, C$#t…etc. Ok, that’s it for my ramble, thanks for reading!!

So now Kwame is saying that the text messages were sent by hackers, come the eff on, he is starting to sound like a little kid blaming the dog when the lamp got knocked over and broken. This guy is the biggest idiot I’ve ever seen, you are the mayor of Detroit not some West Side thug dude, so rolling in Navigator’s, rockin big ass diamond earrings, making it rain at house parties, partying with hookers, throwing bashes of the century, none of this makes you look good as a political figure.
The main reason you keep getting reelected is because the vast majority of the city of Detroit is poor & they look at all of your bling & think that just maybe if they keep voting you in to office they too will end up all rich & powerful, but we all know that will never happen. They don’t realize that it is their money that is paying for those vehicles, parties, diamonds, hotel rooms, hookers, dinners with Christine…etc. consider yourself lucky to be the mayor of a city that really has it’s head up it’s ass. The city still looks like shit, sure the downtown area is looking a little better, but what about the actual city where the residents live? Every other house on most blocks is either burnt up, missing, or foreclosed on and boarded up & who wants to look at that? I’m guessing the family attempting to live in the 1 remaining house on the block just has to deal with the drug dealers & squatters living in the boarded up houses down the road because you wasted millions of dollars in that whistleblower trial that could have been spent to clean up these run down neighborhoods. I’m not a resident of Detroit, basically because I’m not going to pay an extra city tax when nothing is being done to improve the city! I really hope that the city council comes through & Kwame is dethroned, because in any other country he would have been immediately arrested and thrown in prison for perjury since it is a felony! That’s the one thing I don’t like about this country, if you are a public figure the law just simply doesn’t pertain to you, you have no legal drinking age, you can lie in court and not be punished, if you are sentenced to prison time you only have to actually serve out 5% of it, and you can usually buy yourself out of anything else but Joe Blow who gets in a bar brawl has to do hard time? I would like to ask that you be a real man & step down because you look like a fool walking around like nothing is going on, I would also like to ask your wife to step up & leave your ass because you are a dog & have made an absolute fool out of her!! I am so sick of stupid girls, these women who seem to think that their entire existence is based on making some man happy. This ideal is bull shit & totally 50's and the times have changed ladies. You own you, you make your own decisions, he is him & should be able to take care of himself...after all he's a grown ass man! I understand that you may have to check with your man before you make plans with the girls or anyone else for that matter, but solely to make sure that the two of you didn't already have prior plans that you forgot about. I am beyond fed up with hearing phrases such as "I don't know if he will let me", and others of this sort. Anyway, we work all day, so does he, why would you bail on fun to rush your ass home to make dinner when he is perfectly capable of making it himself? Obviously, if you made dinner plans with your man & your co-worker asks if you want to get happy hour saying "I already have plans with boy" is totally cool, but saying something like "boy will freak out if I don't have dinner on the table by 6" makes you no more than boys wife, not "girl" with her own identity. I have no issues with my married/coupled friends, well no issues with most of them but there are some that I refuse to speak to due to their choices in men/women because their choice doesn't make them a better person, they are no complimented by their significant other...they, like these women say things to me like "I wish I could go but boy won't let me", "I'm so broke after paying boy's cell phone bill I can't afford it", "boy is out with his friends and if I'm not here when he gets back he'll be pissed", "I can't talk now, boy has phones tapped", "we had so much fun, boy let me have a couple beers" you may be thinking "wtf?" but yes, these are all phrases I have heard from the women in my life at one time or another. Ladies, have some freaking self respect have you not seen Sleeping with the Enemy? Things won't ever get better, people don't change, and unless you want to lose all of the friends and family that you have who actually respect and love you it's high time you stood up for yourself & don't tell me that you are afraid you may never find anyone else because being alone is better than being owned by some asshat you think loves you.
